Export & Commercial Use Policy (Crash BASIC Arcade)

Last updated: April 21, 2026

This page clarifies export and commercial rights for Crash BASIC users and Crash BASIC Arcade paying members. Crash BASIC is published by Crash Continuum LLC.

1) Who Can Export

Anyone can export games from Crash BASIC and play them using CrashPlayer on supported systems. No subscription is required to build, share, or play non-commercial games.

Exports produced without an active subscription display the full Crash BASIC splash, including the "Not licensed for commercial use" notice. These games may be freely shared, but are not licensed for commercial sale.

2) Commercial Rights by Tier

Commercial rights to games made in Crash BASIC are granted by subscription tier:

  • Free tier — Not licensed for commercial sale. You may build, share, and distribute games non-commercially. The full splash screen is required.
  • Indie tier — Licensed for commercial sale. The "Not licensed for commercial use" notice is removed from the splash; the attribution block ("Powered by Crash BASIC", copyright, Crash CORE version) remains.
  • Studio tier — Licensed for commercial sale. The splash screen is removed entirely.

Pricing is current as of the "Last updated" date above and is subject to change.

Stamp Permanence

When you stamp a build during an active subscription at any paid tier, that specific build remains stamped permanently. If your subscription lapses, games you have already stamped and distributed continue to carry their stamp — you do not lose commercial rights to previously stamped builds.

However, re-stamping is required for any new or modified build. If you change your game's code, assets, or configuration and re-export, the new build must be stamped under an active subscription at the corresponding tier.

Attempting to sell an unlicensed (free-tier) build is a license violation and may be subject to legal action at Crash Continuum LLC's discretion.

3) Publishing and Selling Elsewhere

Paying members may export, publish, and sell games created with Crash BASIC on supported platforms and storefronts, subject to:

  • Your compliance with Crash BASIC Terms and policies
  • The destination platform's rules
  • Your responsibility to secure rights to all third-party assets you use (art, music, fonts, code)
  • Ratings, legal compliance, and any tax obligations

Crash BASIC's build pipeline supports distribution to Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and the web. Code signing credentials for any given platform (Apple Developer certificates, Android keystores, etc.) are the developer's responsibility to obtain and provide.

4) Console Distribution

Distribution on console platforms requires a separate licensed developer agreement with Crash Continuum LLC. The self-serve subscription tiers described above do not cover console distribution. For console licensing inquiries, contact [email protected].

5) Attribution

Where the Crash BASIC splash screen is required by your subscription tier, you may not remove, obscure, shorten, or modify it. This includes the scrolling background, Crash-tan, the attribution text, and — for free-tier builds — the "Not licensed for commercial use" notice.

Removing or modifying the splash without holding the appropriate subscription tier is a license violation.

6) No Marketplace on Arcade

Crash BASIC Arcade is for sharing, not selling. Games published to Arcade are free to play for all Arcade users. Do not attempt to run paid transactions, solicit payment, or advertise commercial sales through Arcade features.

You are welcome to link from your Arcade game page to your commercial listing on other platforms (itch.io, Steam, Google Play, App Store, etc.) where appropriate.
